Aidan Roberts has pushed the boundaries once again, climbing a long sought after project at Carrock Fell.
This new line, Leopold Von Pooch (8C), accesses the classic Leopold Von Buch from a sit start low down to the right and follows a rising line on some great holds and surprisingly forgiving rock… albeit in the shape of some pretty small edges.
Commenting on the grade Aidan offered the following:
The difficulty of this line is tricky for me to judge. Before this day, it’d always felt utterly desperate but a quick ascent this session caught me by surprise. There are so many uncontrollable factors at play here but the physical crimping and shoulder ability is unavoidable so I suspect it weighs in at 8C. I look forward to seeing what others think!
