Toblerone Tussle & Vitruvian RH

Vitruvian Man RH A couple of snippets of news from either end of the LakesBloc coverage zone...

At Carrock Fell I climbed a very interesting problem not too far from the road in the central area. The Toblerone Tussle (7b/V8) climbs the steep, vaguely triangular shaped overhanging prow, situated approximately 100m up the scree slope from the Du-Al Boulder. The word 'involved' sums up this little bloc perfectly, incorporating, as it does, some full on tactics - start RH on the obvious side pull at the back of the roof and LH on a hold just below the lip out left, pull on and tackle the prow direct heading for the apex of the block. Whilst it is possible the line has been climbed before it seems unlikely, as I moved a couple of blocks from the landing zone and there was no sign of prior cleaning, however if you know otherwise let me know. Incidentally, I would imagine the problem is morpho - i.e hard for the short and easier for the tall.

In the South Lakes, Nick Clement added a possible new right hand finish to Vitruvian Man, on the Shelter Stone in Trowbarrow Quarry. Nick explained that you “start as before on opposing edges, latch the big hold and then match with the left hand (awkward), before moving right and up the right arête” to finish. He went on to say that is was around the same grade as the original direct version of the line, i.e. 7c/V9.

Right: Adam Lincoln making a quick repeat of Nick Clement's new addition, Vitruvian Man RH.
