Coastal Action North & South

George North has a quality looking addition to the small bouldering sector at Humphrey Head, on the south Cumbrian coast.
Sanctum (7a/V6) is apparently a satisfying sit start to the Pocket Problem (6b) on the traversing wall [see Lakes Bouldering guide by Rockfax]. From a good hold down and left pull directly into the sloping side pull, where a swing right allows the sharp pocket to be gained – morpho! The venue as a whole has a magnificent outlook, but sadly the bouldering isn’t quite up to the same standard with the rock being both very sharp and non-too extensive.
Right: George North cruises his new Humphrey Head addition, Sanctum 7a/V6.
Also well worth a mention; Egremont based St. Bees enthusiast, Chris Fisher, recently grabbed the coverted second ascent of Dan Varian's classic Apiary Wall highball, By the Power of Raa (7c+).
