Duddon Boulders

Area Summary

The Duddon valley is one of the most picturesque and more importantly quietest valleys in the Lake District national park, and if approached via the south lakes coastal roads it is very easy to avoid the usual southern mass exodus… especially for early birds. With little in the way of the usual honey pot destination “crap”, such as tea rooms, art galleries and outdoor shops the valley is a true climber paradise.

The bouldering is esoteric in nature, however  many of the lines – such as Once Upon a Time in the West (7b+/V8) and Lingy Von Bong Chops (7a/V6) – are equal to many of the better problems at other more established Lakeland venues. The climbing is situated at the north end of the valley, spread out across the hillside between the historic Walna Scar road and Seathwaite reservoir.
