Hyning Wood

Area Summary

Situated adjacent to Hyning Road, which itself connects Yealand Conyers and Warton village, is a small collection of limestone out crops. These wooded craglets dry quickly and also offer some respite from the heat, during the summer months.

Primarily developed by local strongman, John Gaskins, Hyning Wood offers a small amount of limestone boulder problems and traverses. The standout line of the crag is the historically renowned Transgenic (8a/V11), which along with Morau’s Island (8a/V11), are the two best lines and features of the crag's.
