Ull Stone

Area Summary

This large boulder is situated high on the hillside at the northern end of Kentmere, 1.5km due east of the valley reservoir. Legend has it that the Ull Stone was half the dice of Ull the giant who threw it from Cockermouth in a fit of rage. The venue is unlikely to appeal to the convenience boulderer due to the 1 hour walk in. The situation is however superb and makes up for the rather lichenous and in places brittle rock.

A number of climbs have been recorded on this vast hulking block, however these are left for the intrepid explorer to discover for themselves...
