Windy Clough
Area Summary
Situated on the northwest flanks of Clougha Pike, around 4 miles (7km) east of Lancaster, is the picturesque bouldering circuit of Windy Clough. This neat little venue is spread over 3 small sectors, and comprises of superb fine grained blocks and walls, similar to those found just over the hill at Thorn Crag. Of the 3 sectors Windy Clough - West is the most extensive, and offers some excellent problems up to 7b+/V8. However, as a rule the climbing is generally in the lower grades, which combined with fantastic views and good landings, makes this an excellent spot for the circuit boulderer.
Clougha Pike: Also featured here is the circuit of Clough Pike - the skyline ridge to the northeast of Windy Clough. The landings here are a little less favourable than at Windy Clough, but it does offer some good (mainly easier) climbing in a great setting. The topo for the Clougha Pike sector was kindly created by Chris Clements, and whilst it's not a LakesBloc production, all the info seems pretty accurate. There is no approach info on the Clougha Pike topo so we've drawn the best method of approach on this Google Map.
